SearchTone: an integrated suite for Search, Categorization, Filtering, Delivery and Synthesis of Information.

SearchTone is a suite of tools developed by Ideare S.r.l. for keeping abreast of the flow of unstructured information available on the Internet and on Intranet. By exploiting advanced techniques from the field of Information Retrieval (IR), SearchTone automates several tasks required for handling large volumes of information and delivering the right information to the right people.

SearchTone allows Intelligent Spidering, Language Recognition, Information Filtering, Web Searching, Usenet Search, MultiMedia Search, Brand Search, Price Comparison, Automatic Categorization, Automatic Summarization, User Profiling and Alerting.

A minimal configuration of SearchTone will include software agents for spidering, indexing, categorization, abstracting and search agents. Optional modules or software agents are available to perform format conversion, tagging and profiling. By composing modules from SearchTone one can fulfill several requirements for the analysis of unstructured data.

SearchTone Search Engines SSE is a collection of modules which allows building a complete Search Engine for Internet. The modules are:

• SSE Web, a complete Web Search Engine which is used by Tiscali for Janas, a search engine which is indexing several European Country (Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Spaign). It is also used by Dada, a leader Italian ISP for building SuperEva, by Interfree, a free Internet provider, by Monrif, a leading Newspapers publisher and by Corriere della Sera, a leading Italian Newspaper, in co-brand with Janas.

• SSE Audio which allows searching audio files such MP3. We have built for Tiscali MP3 and Jumpy MP3 an index of more than 2.000.000 mp3 files gathered from world wide sites. It uses innovative technology such us by-content and by-context analysis.

• SSE Image which allows searching image files such as BMP, GIF, TIFF, JPEG, XBM. We have built for Tiscali Image and Jumpy Image an index of more than 2.500.000 of images files. It uses innovative technology such us by-content and by-context analysis.

• SSE Video which allows searching video files such as MPEG, AVI and QuickTime, RealVideo. It uses innovative technology such us by-content and by-context analysis and a demo is available on our Video Server

• SSE WAP which allows searching wap content in WML format. A demo is available on our Wap Server

• SSE Usenet which allows searching, browsing, decoding and posting on Usenet Newsgroup. We have built for CiaoWeb News an index and a browsing system of more than 500 italian discussion groups.

• SSE Price Compare is used by Tiscali Shopping a powerfull Price Comparison Search Engine . Tiscali Shopping help user in selecting cheaper price in e-commerce transactions. It allows real-time price comparison of several Internet Shops belogings to different categories such as: Video&CD, Books, Computer, Auctions, Mobile Phones and Travel

• SSE Brand is used for providing all the web sites related to an Italian Brand. We have built an index of more than 60.000 italian brands.

• SSE Chat & MeetIRC searches IRC Network for discussion channels and discussion topics, in real time. IRC is a world wide network, with distributed servers owned by different organizations. Once you have chosen a channel you can join it and chat using our Meet IRC java applet.

SearchTone Classification Engine SCE is a collection of modules which allows building an automatic Web Directory for Internet without human intervention.

• SCE is successfully used by Janas and SuperEva, in Italy and by Fireball in German It supports advanced technology like "Categoritazion by Content", "Categorization By Context" and "Link Popularity for more accurate classification results. The module works on the top of SSE or interfacing directly other search engine's index (like Altavista engine for Fireball) and provides truly multilingual summarization support for english, german, italian. Its parallel engine provides high performance and allows classification of hundreds of categories, concurrently.
